Create Your Own Superhero!

Objectives: Learners will use the Fun School Create Your Own Superhero to develop a main character for a writing activity.

1. Student should create a main character at Fun School’s Create Your Own Superhero game (http://www.funschool.com/games.php?section=g5).
2. After the superhero has been created onscreen student should press the Print Screen key on the computer keyboard. This will send the superhero to the computer clipboard.
3. Open Word. Click Edit on the top menu line…Choose Paste from the dropdown menu. This will paste the superhero on the Word document.
4. Use the Crop tool on the picture toolbar to crop unnecessary parts of the image. Wrap the text around the image tight.

5. Students should name the character and use a graphic organizer to write a story about the superhero.
6. Transfer the story to draft paper. Edit the story using the Editing Checklist. Then make a final copy of the story.
7. Publish the story by asking a few students to read their story aloud. Stories can also be printed and combined in a class book.
