The Write
On project timetable of objectives is as follows:
August 2002
Identify one third and one fourth grade teacher at each elementary
school. Contact teachers to establish their interest in
participating in this project.
September 2002
At the first meeting teachers will begin journal. This month the
journal entries will be a reflection of the teacher’s usage of
technology, technology successes, fears, and stumbling blocks.
Teachers will also explore the Let’s Mull It Over, writing process,
writing process wheel, Four Square + 1, 3 +, transition, and
Internet resources selecting one for use with students in the next
month. A schedule will be developed for the instructional
technology teacher’s monthly classroom visitation. Rubric for

October 2002
Participants will journal concerning their experience utilizing
their selected Internet resource discussing successes and failures.
Participants will explore a virtual field trip and develop a group
language experience chart of their visit. Participants will locate
a virtual field trip and upon return to the classroom, take students
through the trip, creating a group experience chart with students at
the end of the trip. A schedule will be developed for classroom
visitation.
November 2002
Participants will journal about classroom language experience chart
activity. Participants will utilize a story starter with 5 W’s
(webpage) to develop a group story to print and illustrate.
Participants will learn to use the Orchard Book Maker to create a
book of stories. Participants will complete the same activity with
their students upon returning to the classroom. A schedule will be
developed for classroom visitation.
December 2002
No meeting will be scheduled.
January 2003
Participants will journal about the story starter activity.
Jeannette Mulholland will share a writing composition strategy
presentation. Using the Day by Day website teachers will visit
the designated site for “today” and read and discuss the site.
Participants will write “My Favorite Website of the Day.”
These writings will be compiled in a class newsletter. Upon
returning to the classroom participants will complete the same
newsletter activity with their students. A schedule will be

February 2003
Participants will journal about the classroom newsletter activity.
They will create PowerPoint based on an area of study in social
studies. These presentations will be utilized as springboards
for student writing assignment. Participants will share the
presentations with students upon returning to the classroom. A brochure for the
Tech-Know Showcase which will coincide with spring parent teacher
conferences will be developed. A schedule will be developed for

Participants will journal about the social studies PowerPoint
activity.
They will create PowerPoint based on an area of study in science.
These presentations will be utilized as springboards for student
writing assignment. Participants will share the presentations
with students upon returning to the classroom. A
schedule will be developed for classroom visitation.
April 2003
Participants will journal about the
science PowerPoint activity and the
Tech-Know Showcase. Topics for classroom science reports will be
discussed and strategies (KWL Chart for students) Upon returning to
the classroom participants will complete report activity with
students. Students will prepare a Write on Showcase for parents and
the community. Students will demonstrate skills they have learned
throughout the year and present Internet projects.
May 2003
This month will be used for final evaluation of the project.
Teachers will complete an evaluation of the integration of
technology into the curriculum and reflect on any changes in their
attitude about the integration of technology. |
