New Market Elementary School
So far, my experience in fifth grade has been extraordinary. It’s different from all the other grades. You can get in trouble a little bit more, too. In fifth grade, you not only alternate classes, but you also have to get organized. You get to do a variety of things in each classroom. In Mrs. Housley’s class you learn Science and Social Studies. When you get done with all of your work, you may read. In Mrs. Ashley’s class you learn Math, and Spelling. When you get done with all your work you could read, get things off the activity shelf like, dry erase boards or education fun boards. Last of all, in Mrs. Noyes’s room, you learn Reading and Language. When you get done with all your work, you can read or look at I spy books. Once a month, you get to illustrate from the art box. It is my favorite thing of all. I think fifth grade is fantastic and exciting. New Market Elementary is a fabulous place to get educated.

Easter Island has a lesson for us to remember today. It is found in the South Pacific. The island was created by a volcano, so there are lava tubes and sharp jagged rocks all over. Also, because it was created by a volcano, Easter Island has very good, rich soil.
People who settled on the island started making thousands of statues. The statues are still there today. Some of them reach at least 50 feet in size. All of the statues are made of a soft rock called moai. Some of them were made in caves.
Natural resources like wood were wasted in the movement of the statues. Because they cut all the trees down, all the rich soil eroded. Without good soil, all the crops died. So with nothing to eat, they began to fight each other. When the wars were over, which ever group won ate the others.
Today we, too, could find ourselves like them if we waste our natural resources like water, food, wood, and other things that we can not live without. Neal
Easter Island has a lesson for us to remember today. It is a tiny island in the South Pacific. The rich soil on the island came from rolcnic eruptions. The islanders started making thousands of statues. Some of the statues started to fall. They have transport by canoes. Natural resources like wood were wasted in the movement of statues. All of the good soil was washed away and so no crop could grow, but they did try to get some more crops growing. Today we too could find ourselves endangered because we waste our resources. Whitney

The islanders started making thousands of statues. Statues were made out of volcano moai. Natural resources such as wood were wasted in the movement of statues. If we did not have rich soil we would probably not have any crops to eat. Today we too could find ourselves in the same shape if we waste our resourses. We need rich soil to plant crops to eat so we can stay alive. Chelsie

Wow! What a lesson I learned about Easter Island! Easter Isalnd has a very warm climate and is located in the South Pacific. When people first started living on the island. The islanders started making thousands of statues and were obsessed with their work! The statues were made of moai and they put a lot of effort into their statues and they all looked the same. Natural resources like wood and crops were waisted in the movement of the statues. They had cut down all their trees to make statues so when it rained everything flooded. Today we too could find ourselves waisting our natural resources!

Easter Isalnd has wonderful lesson for us to remember Easter Island has very few people and a hot climate and it is found in South Pacific. The Island stared making thousand of statues are made of moai. They have wered shape and size. Naturel resources like wood were wasted in the movement of statues and then it flooed so they coud not grow crops. Today we could find ourselves with out resources or food! That’s what I learned about Easter Island. Kirsten
Easter Island has a lesson for us to remember today. It is a tiny island in the South Pacific. The island was made from a volcano. It had rich soil and a jagged coat. Also it is close to Hawaii.
The islanders started making thousands of statues. They made the statues out if moi. They were about 10-15 feet tall. The islanders formed clans. Clans were groupd of people who had the same beliefs.
Natural resources like wood were wasted in the movement of the statues. The ground eroded. The crops died because of erosion and when the crops died they began to fight. Finally, they turned to cannablism. In cannablism they fought in groups what group won ate their dead enemies. Then later they stoped cannibalism and repaired their heritage and made the Birdman cult in the Birdman cult they swam in shark infested water to get an egg and bring it back uncracked of they made it they had special privileges for a year.
Today we too could find ourselves out of natural resources. If we lose natural resources we too would begin to fight. Then we might eat each other. Could it happen?

Easter Island has a lesson for us to remember today. It is a tiny island in the South Pacific. The island is made from a volcanoe. Also it has a jagged coast and rich soil.
People that lived there made statues called moui. Some were 15 feet tall. Soon after making so many statues were made they had no wood left. Their crops died and they had to eat each other to survive.
After only about 150 were left, they tried to bring back their culture. They had a leader called the Birdman. They lived for a while but then slave traders came and gathered all the strong ones.
Today we to could find ourselves without natural resources if we waste them. If we waste paper then more trees will have to be cut down and trees help us breathe. Also if we damage the land then it will erode. And we will not have much land. If we kill off a lot of animals that we need then we will starve. Hannah

Easter Island has a lesson for us to remember today. It is a tiny island in the South Pacific. The island is near Hawaii, which was made from a volcanic eruptions. It has a jagged cost and rich soil.
The islanders started making thousands of huge statues called Moais. They made the Moai for worship stones. The islanders became so obsessed making these statues they used more and more wood. They used wood for many things, such as shelter or housing and moving moais from one place to the other. Soon they had used up all the trees. Without the trees, when it rained, the top soil washed into the ocean. Without top soil the crops died out. Since they didn’t have any wood, they couldn’t make escape boats, so they were stuck on the island. Since there was little food, the islanders started fighting. They were killing each other over food. Soon they became cannibals. After a while, there were less than six hundred islanders. They decided to pick a leader every year. They named the leader Birdman. In order to become the Birdman they climb down the mountain side, swim through shark in fested waters, climb up a rock, get the egg, swim back through the shark in fested waters without breaking the egg. The person who did this was named Birdman. The Birdman told everyone what to do and what they can eat. In 1860 slave traders went to Easter Island and got the very few healthy and strong islanders. They took them back to North America and traded them for money.
Today we too could ourselves running out of natural resources. If we waste paper more trees will be cut down, the more trees cut down the less oxygen. If all the trees are cut down, the top soil will wash away. Without top soil the farmers crops will die. Without the farmer’s crop we would not have food. Without food we would start to starve. Then we could possibly start to kill each other and mabe even practice cannibalism. If that happended, we would eventually die out. Kathy

The islanders started making thousands of statues. The statues are called moais. Natural resources like wood were wasted in the movement of the statues.
They ran out of resources and became cannibals. Today we too could find ourselves running out of natural resources if we waste them.
We would fight over resources that we need the most, lik food, water, wood and shelter. We would need food the most because if we did not have it we would starve. Then we would probably become cannibals and fight and then it would come to where we would eat each other until very few of us were left. Then we would eventually die out. Rachael
Easter Island has a lesson for us to remember today. It is a tiny island in the South Pacific. The island, made from a volcano, has rich soil.
The islanders started making statues called moai and were different sizes. The clans made them.
Natural resources like wood were wasted in the movement of the statues. Their crops died, they started to have to eat each other, and many of them became slaves.
Today we too could find ourselves running out of natural resources if we waste them. We need to start saving and not wasting them or one day we might run out too. Or eventually we will start fighting over them. Jonathan
Easter Island has a lesson for us to remember today. It is a tiny island in the South Pacific. The island is made from a volcano and has rich soil. The islanders carved giant statues called moai. The moai were at least 15 feet tall. The islanders formed clans. When they built a moai, they grouped together. Natural resources were wasted in the moai. The islanders wasted too many natural resources. Then the crops started to die. The trees started to disappear. Then the islanders started cannablism because they where all going hungry. The population dropped down to under 750 people. The islanders soon realized that they were not getting anywhere with cannablism. They decided to come up with a way to pick a leader. The islanders came with a way to pick a leader. The islanders came up with a game to decide a winner. They had to swim across shark filled waters , climb upon a cliff and get the bird’s egg. The person that completed the game and returned was the Birdman, which is the leader. Just as they were starting to rebuild their culture, the slave traders came and took all of the healthy people. Today there are no longer any of the old island.
We could find ourselves in that situation if we run out of natural resources. If we lose all of our natural resources, we would more than likely start fighting as well. For Example, lets say there is only one grape and three people what do you think will happen? Fights of course. Everyone will start fighting until people start cannablism.

Easter Island has a lesson for us to remember today. It is a tiny island in the South Pacific. The island, made from a volacano, has rich soil.
The islanders started making thousands of statues. The statues are made out of moai and are formed by different clans. It took the people who made the statues years to form them.
They made thousands of statues using wood. They ran out of wood and couldn’t make escape boats. They ran out of food and the population started to decrease because the people started becoming cannibals.
Today we would find ourselves wasting natural resources. We could one day run out of food and have to go to war. Many people would die in the war. Kayla
Easter Island has a lesson for us to remember today.
It is a tiny island in the south pacific. It is formed out of lava and rich soil. Easter Island has a very large very dangerous coastline.
The islanders started making thousands of statues. Called moise. The make were large in size with many different shpes and sizes.
Natural resources like wood wre wasted in the movement of statues. With no trees to hold the ground together erosions took the rich soil. All there crops died.
Today we too could find ourselves wasting resources. Running out of supplies the earth will turn to cannibles.
Whoever is reading this you can help. Go online and see how you can help. Our time is running out. Brandon
Easter Island has a lesson for us to remember. Easter Island was formed by volcanic eruptions. It has a harsh jagged coastline. That is hard to land a plane. The volcanic eruptions made the soil very rich.
The people who lived there made thousands of statues of moai. It came to be a tradition. They built the statues about 15 feet tall. The island was soon covered by statues.
They soon wasted all the wood on the island to transport the statues. That they did not have any wood for shelter, fires, or boats. The land erode to a big wasteland. The rich soil was gone so they could not grow crops.
Today, we too could find ourselves in this situation if we waste our natural resources like wood, water and food. The land would erode if there was no trees. We would not have any soil to grow food. So we best not waste. Dustin

Last Christmas, I had a petite surprise. At 12:00 pm, I heard a noise in the bathroom. Quickly, I jumped up to see if it was Santa Clause! Slowly, I went downstairs. I saw a scary man putting toys under the tree. I was so afraid. I was scared. I went outside to scream without waking somebody. When he heard me leaving, the man went up the chimney and took off with his sleigh. I looked back at the man and said, “Sorry.” I decided to go back inside because I felt bad. The man said, “Ho, ho, ho.” I am glad that he went away.
