If you are downloading these plug-ins at school the best time to download is before school hours or as early in the morning as possible.

All downloads involve 2 steps:

1. Download  First the software must be downloaded to the hard drive of your computer.  Most programs are too large to download to a diskette.  Usually programs are downloaded to a temp file on the c: drive. Make note of the folder you are downloading the file into.  There are several temp files on your computer.  Be sure you are in the temp file on the c: drive and not in the temp file in the Windows folder or Netscape folder.  Always write down the name of the file you are downloading. You will need to know the file name and the folder you downloaded it into in order to complete the next step.

2. Installation  After downloaded, the program must be installed on the hard drive. Everything should be closed before this process begins.  Use “My Computer” to locate the folder and file name of the program you downloaded.  Plug-ins should be installed in the Netscape Plugin folder.  Programs can be installed in the Program File folder.  The computer will default to a desired folder for installation on the hard drive.  Usually you will install the program in that folder.

Once the program has been installed, and tested, it should be deleted from the temp folder.  You may get a message that this file you are about to delete is a program and may affect one or more programs.  Go ahead and delete the file.  You do not need it in the temp file once you have installed it elsewhere and tested it.
