Register
This program is limited to any one who will be teaching a unit to students. You must have an active email account.  Make sure you give your exact email information.  If you are using a Ten-Nash account your email address is your last name, first initial, and possibly a number followed by @k12tn.net the shortened email address (no caps, no spaces).  Each interested teacher will register.  You only register once, even if you are doing more than one unit or entry.  Separate information will be provided for each class and subject as an "entry".  For example, a middle or high school teacher may enter once for each of 2 classes and have 2 "entries".  An elementary teacher with only one class may enter for each subject he or she teaches to the same class and have 2 "entries". Maximum is 2 entries. The teacher will take a new survey in Profiler for each entry.

Task 1: State Learning Gap & Evidence
For each entry, a teacher will identify a learning gap for the teacher’s class that relates to a student learning expectation in the School Plan.. Each teacher should read Tasks 3a, 3b, 3c and 4 before completing registration.

Find a learning gap in student performance in your classroom (one content area and grade level) and describe how you know that a leaning gap exists and how it relates to your School Plan. You can find the areas identified in your school's plan by clicking Locate your school's plan
Provide percentile evidence, preferably from Terra Nova score information, or teacher test data that documents the learning gap. Prepare a brief explanation and enter it in the form below. Be sure you include the grade level, content area, and evidence the gap exists in your response.

If you plan to use Terra Nova scores for your evidence on the learning gap you must be specific.  In other words if your learning gap identifies math/percentages as a weakness, then you must report from your Terra Nova scores the mastery/nonmastery numbers for the area of percentages.  You cannot just report the information from the web that shows low gains in math...it is too general and doesn't address the weakness that was identified.  To learn more about types of standardized tests given in Tennessee, go to the State Department Evaluation and Assessment Site at the following URL: http://www.state.tn.us/education/tsintro.htm, select a test from the links identified on the left.  Within the documents describing the tests, you will find national and state comparison information.  Test scores should also be found in the 1999-2000 School Improvement Plan.  If your grade level does not have Terra Nova scores relate the weakness identifed in your School Plan to your grade level.   We all understand that performance in early grades or those areas for which test scores are not available affect the test scores that are available.  Consistent low test scores usually point to problems that can be addressed by teachers in earlier grades and higher grades, as well as those in other subject areas.  The purpose of establishing the student learning goal is to examine the needs of students as evidenced by scores when compared to other students statewide.  On the Online Submission Form report your information.
