Set in World War I Appalachia, The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree, portrays Ruthie's most memorable Christmas.  Her Father was across the water fighting in the Great War, her Mother had no money, and it was their family's turn to provide the Christmas tree for the village. 

Author, Dr. Gloria Houston, visited Rush Strong Students on Tuesday December 18, 2007.  Each class got to go to the auditorium and  meet Dr. Houston during the school day.
