Parrott-Wood Library

The Parrott-Wood Library opened in officially on Jan.18, 1970. Earlier the library existed in a small building next door to its current building. Mrs. Fred McBee remembers that she mentioned to Mrs. Wood that surely someday someone would build a library in her honor. Immediately Mrs. Parrott Wood decided that she would build the library as a gift to the community that she so loved. Mrs. Fred McBee is the librarian and has been very helpful in obtaining information on Strawberry Plains' history. Today, old and young alike visit the library. It stands today as a memorial to Mrs. Mayme Parrott Wood.
