Churches

The first church in Strawberry Plains was probably the Methodist, since the Stringfields, the early settlers, were Methodist.  No one knows when the church was built, but records do show that Rev. David Adams preached there in 1840-1844.

The Presbyterian Church was established around 1830.  As a result of political division, a Second or Southern Presbyterian Church was established and the remaining church was known as the Northern Presbyterian Church.  A Biblical Garden directed by Mayme Parrott Wood, was dedicated on May 11, 1969.

The Baptist Church was organized on September 9, 1917 in the old school house.  A new building was completed in 1919.  It was the first church in the community to provide a minister home or manse.
