The first church in Strawberry Plains was probably the Methodist, since the Stringfields, the early settlers, were Methodist. No one knows when the church was built, but records do show that Rev. David Adams preached there in 1840-1844.
The
Presbyterian Church was established around 1830. As a result of political division, a Second
or Southern Presbyterian Church was established and the remaining church was
known as the Northern Presbyterian Church.
