New Market Elementary School is accredited by SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools).  Through this organization we have developed a school improvement plan.  Our mission statement and the plan's goals follow:

Mission Statement

New Market Elementary School:  Caring, sharing, and learning for life.

Goal 1- Expanding and Integrating Knowledge

• Students connect what they learn, giving them the ability to use the knowledge they’ve gained in one subject to help them understand other subjects.

• Students use prior learning to help them with new concepts.

Goal 2- Thinking and Reasoning Skills

• Students make practical use of the knowledge they have; applying skills and information in real ways. 
• Students move beyond rote memorization and discover ways to analyze information to solve problems and to accomplish tasks.
• Students learn to look at problems from all angles and see multiple ways to solve problems and find answers.

Goal 3- Personal and Social Responsibility

• Students take personal responsibility for their learning.
• Students respect themselves and others and appreciate the diversity and interdependence of all people.
• Students know how to act as responsible, participating members of society.

Goal 4- Student Achievement in Reading and Language Arts

• Students will demonstrate academic growth on the TerraNova test in the areas of reading and language arts.
