One of the greatest race horses of all time is Man o' War. Man o' War went to the post 21 times and won 20 races. The distance racehorses run is measured in furlongs, 1/8 of a mile. A "furrow long" was originally the length of a plowed field. Would Man o' War have run farther if he ran a race of 1 1/8 miles or of 16 furlongs?
