GOALS 2000 QUARTERLY REPORT

LEA:   Jefferson County  E-55              Project Name: 2001: A Skills Odyssey!

Project Contact:  David Goff     Date of Report: October 15, 2001

Please answer the following questions in as much detail as possible.

You may use attachments.

1.      Using specifics, compare your timeline and benchmarks in the grant to what is actually occurring in your project.

Due to delays in receiving materials, we are behind our projected timeline.  As originally projected, the full implementation, except for Kindergartners, should have been in place by the end of September. Due to major virus problems system-wide, there has been a delay in installation of software. The computers are presently in place and have been networked, and the software will be installed in the next few days. Implementation, on a grade-by-grade basis will begin immediately after installation. A full day of inservice training will be scheduled as soon as everything is operational.

In summary, though we are slightly behind schedule, we are progressing and should have no problem meeting the goals and objectives of the project.

2.       What progress have you made toward reaching the objectives and goals that you set in your proposal?

Due to technical problems noted above, no progress has yet been made towards identified goals of the project.

3.      What progress has been made toward the National Goal or Goals as you presented in your proposal?

As noted above, we are behind schedule and have no progress yet to report.

4.      At this point, how is the Goals 2000 funding positively affecting the education of the children in your county?

The Goals 2000 Funding has provided our county with some excellent tools for enhancing the education of our children. Thus far we are still in the beginning phases of the project and have little specific data to demonstrate the long-term value of the assets provided by these funds.

5.      Describe some great happenings concerning your project.  Please send any articles or documentation to us for our files

Students and teachers are excited about the possibilities available through our new program, and are anxious to get started.  Specific details of benefits will follow in the next report.
