Objectives
In this lesson, students will:
· Research and email an elected official
· Draft a friendly letter
· Type the letter in an email
· Voice their opinion about an issue of concern
Time Frame

Materials
1. Internet and email access
2. Printer
3. Log book
Procedure
1. Use the Internet to research an elected official. Emails for Tennessee
elected officials can be found at http://seavers.net/govert.html
2. Ask students to generate questions, statements of concern, and opinions
on key topics.
3. Determine which official would have influence in making a change
and draft a letter to that official.
4. Create an email from the draft to send to the chosen official.
5. Ask students to document the name of the official and date and time
the email was sent in their log book.
6. Print any responses and make a display of the progress.
