Animals in Motion
Grade Level: K-2
Overview: Students will use their imaginations to recreate
animal body movements.
Objectives
In this lesson, students will:

Research animal habits and movements

Use creative movement to imitate animals in a variety of circumstances
Time Frame
Two 30 minute periods
Materials
1. Computer and Internet connection
2. multi-purpose room
Procedure
1st 30 minute period:
1. As a whole group activity use the Internet to research animal habits
and movements
2nd 30 minute period:
Tell students to imagine they are no longer people. Have them
imagine how they would use their bodies (no words or sounds) to suggest
an animal or an animal's behavior.
2. Spread across the area and have students act out the following:
A baby bird learning to fly
A fawn following it's mother
A duckling learning to swim
A horse running through the fields
A snake sliding through tall grass
A dog having a bad dream
A turtle asleep in its shell
A frog jumping out of the water
