    The county has a zoning chart which outlines each school zone.  Call 397-2139 extension 10 and ask for Denny in our Transportation Department. Back

  3. What age must my child be to attend kindergarten?

    According to the TCA: kindergarten students above the age of five (5) years, or who will become five (5) years of age on or before September 30, residing within the state may attend.  Back

    Kindergarten registration is held in late April or Early May each year and is posted on the school calendar.  You can access the calendar online.  Back

  6. How do I register my child for school?

    Watch the “Standard Banner” for a news release about the opening of school.  Children who were in attendance the previous academic year are already pre-registered.  If the student did not attend this past year, registration will occur during the first week of August.  The date is usually the Wednesday morning during this week.     See # 5 above as this is the same as kindergarten registration and the district's online policy.  You will be asked to sign a records release form in order to obtain previous school records in the office on registration day. Back

    Each teacher will provide your child with a list of needed supplies on registration day.  The list is different depending on the grade level and school.  Sometimes you can find your child’s teacher list at Wal-Mart one month prior to school opening.  Back

    Attend registration day and ask for the Opening House schedule.  School set up their own time for Open House and Parent Conferences each year. Back
     

  21. How do I refer my child for special education help?
    The parent would refer the child to the school "Student Support Team."  This would be done through the principal/asst. principal/counselor.  They would them be given paperwork to fill out and a SST meeting scheduled with the parent invited.  For more information on special education services, contact Debbie Berry, Director of Special Education (865-397-3194).         Piedmont Elementary:  8:00 - 3:00 (car riders dismiss at 2:55)

        Talbott Elementary:  8:00 - 3:00

        Rush Strong School:  8:00 - 3:00

        White Pine School:  8:05 - 3:05

        Jefferson Middle School:  8:00 - 3:10

        Maury Middle School:  8:00 - 3:10

        Jefferson County High School:  8:20 - 3:10
