Overview Students will understand and use action verbs in written compositions.

Time Frame   Two 30 minute sessions
 

Objectives
In this lesson, students will:

Materials Procedure
Students brainstorm a list of verbs which is projected on the large screen.  When list is complete, students discuss characteristics of action verbs and point out all non-action verbs.  The list of action verbs is written on a chart.  Students choose 10 verbs and write complete sentences using the verbs.   Another class is contacted by ICQ and presented with a list of words.  Students are challenged to choose the action verbs from the list.

Cyber Exchange Lesson

Lesson Title:  Verbs Are Vital.   Sentences Can't Live Without Them

Overview  Individual Activity:  Students draw and illustrate a verb.

Procedures
Using a heart-shaped cutout, students draw a picture of an action verb.  They write a sentence using the verb.  Their work is displayed on a bulletin board.
