Overview

Students will order events as they occurred in the story.

Time Frame
30 to 45 minutes

Objectives

In this lesson, students will:

• Read selected material to sequence events.
• Apply a variety of reading strategies.
• Improve comprehension by interpreting, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating written text.
• Read independently for a variety of purposes.

1. Assign students into 4 groups.

• Assign one of each of the following fairy tales to each group:

Group 1 - Country Mouse and Town Mouse gopher://ftp.std.com:70/00/obi/book/Fairy.Tales/Grimm/country.mouse.and.town.mouse.txt

Group 2 - The Flying Trunk gopher://ftp.std.com:70/00/obi/book/Fairy.Tales/Grimm/flying.trunk.txt

• Each group will locate their story on the Internet and print a hard copy to read as a group activity.

• Each group will sequence the main events on an index card that will be numbered on the back of the card.

• Groups will exchange stories. After reading the story through once, groups will be challenged to place the cards in sequential order.

• Improved student achievement through the use of technology as a tool to enhance the reading curriculum.

• All primary grade students will achieve world class standards.

• State of the art technology will be used to improve curriculum.

Cyber Exchange Lesson

Sequencing

Overview

Student will draw pictures to illustrate each of the events in their story.

Provide drawing paper and crayons or colored pencils. Students can make a book of the hardcopy of their story. Have them cut apart the events and glue them to the drawing after if is completed. Students will have an illustrated copy of the story.
