Objectives

In this lesson, students will:

Use comprehension strategies to enhance understanding, to relate ideas, to organize information, to make predictions, and to distinguish fact from fantasy during the reading process.
Answer questions after listening to an oral selection.

Overview

The learner will distinguish between fantasy and reality

Procedures

Explain fantasy as something that could not happen

Reality is something that could happen

Read a story such as FROG AND TOAD ARE FRIENDS to illustrate fantasy

Read a story such as IRA SLEEPS OVER to illustrate reality

Large group activity- "Fantasy or Reality?"- Teacher reads a statement and students write on personal message board which the statement is.

Evaluation- Teacher types phrases on MS Word- display on TV screen –students circle the phrases that are fantasy

Follow up – Students choose to write a fantasy or reality story for International Kids’ Space
