Activity Sheet #1

Cyber Exchange Contraction Concentration

Overview

Students will develop, identify, and match contractions.

Procedures

"Contraction Concentration Game" Give each group 20 cards and ask them to write contractions on 10 cards. On the other 10 cards write the two words from which the contractions were made. If learners have problems thinking of contractions encourage them to look in their reading books for them. Collect cards and exchange with other teams for the game. Players turn all cards face down and try to match the contraction cards as they turn them face up, one card at a time. Each player can turn over 2 cards, and then the next player takes his/her turn. One point is awarded for each contraction matched. The object of the game is to match as many contractions as possible.

.

Questions

What is a contraction? How can you decide the two words from which it is made?

Activity Sheet #2

Cyber Exchange Contraction Bingo

Overview: Students will match contractions with the two words from which they were made (using a Bingo format).

Procedures: Provide a Bingo card which can be made on Excel. The teacher calls out the two words from which the contraction was made and the student places a token on the correct contraction. When the game board is filled the student calls "bingo".
