In this lesson, students will:

Recognize basic sight words.

Listen for the purpose of repeating simple statements
in different syntax.

Recall what has been read silently or aloud.

Procedure
1. Write an example sentence on the board and model
how the syntax can be changed and the semantics remain unchanged. (Example:
It is raining outside. Outside it is raining.)

Explanation of #1.

Give another example and have the class participate
in figuring out the missing word. (Example: Rachel is my name. My name
is Rachel.

Give each student a copy of the worksheet. Have them
complete the worksheet independently.

After sufficient time, do as a whole group from the
Microsoft Word document.

Word Order Game
Overview
Students will arrange sentence cards in an
order that makes sense.
Procedures
1. Teacher will write various sentences on
sentence strips.

Teacher will cut apart sentences by words.

Groups of 4-5 students will be given cut sentence cards
to arrange correctly.
4. Teacher will monitor as groups work independently.
5. Group leader will read correctly arranged sentence
to class.
Questions
Teacher will orally prompt students with
statements and call on students to change the syntax without changing the
semantics.
