Overview
Students will develop a descriptive story of a mystery character by using materials given.
Time Frame
Two class periods for development of the character, and a third class period for presentations
Objectives
In this lesson, students will:
Procedures: Pairs
Each pair is given a bag containing belongings of a mystery character. They go through every item and make a list of their findings. Discussion follows for a theory of who the character might be, what their lifestyle was like, and what kind of environment they inhabited. After the "character" is fully developed by each pair, each student composes a written description of their person. This writing will be extended into a larger project, such as a complete narrative using the character in a creative story.
Publishing: Each person reads their description/narrative to the group and a consensus is reached as to who the "mystery" character is.
