Importance of Accreditation: Better Schools and Community
For parents and students, accreditation gives assurance
about the overall quality of a school and proves that the
school system is committed to providing quality education.
It requires that all involved pursue high academic standards
and that schools provide diverse course offerings to meet
the needs of all students.
For teachers and school staff, accreditation promotes
professional growth and recognition by the educational
community. It provides opportunity to be active participants
in continuous school improvement and lends support to
curriculum development and alignment.
For the community, accreditation assures accountability for
tax dollars based on standards of quality and that our
community schools compare favorably with others. It provides
an opportunity for public decision-making through
involvement in the on-going accreditation process. Because
of this involvement, educational goals are based on the
needs of the local community.
