Grade Level Tips for New Teachers:

·       Kindergarten

·       Second Grade

Kindergarten

-        Ask lots of questions.

-        Don’t try to do everything.

-        Find something that works for you

-        Be consistent with all students

-        Sing Rain, Rain Go Away to help learn address

-        Don’t feel intimidated to use your own ideas

-        Ask lots of questions

-        Don’t worry about the clock!

Second Grade

-        Be consistent.

-        Have a discipline plan – Don’t try to be their friend.

-        Be organized

-        Know your students

Third Grade

-        At the beginning of the year create a “keep at home” or “return to school” folder.

-        Give each child a number that corresponds to their number in grade.  It makes easier to record grades if papers have their number.

-        Organization folder containing review at test time.

-        Pace yourself.

-        Be consistent.  Don’t try to be their friend.

Fifth Grade

-        Don’t forget to have fun

-        Stress Management. . .Medicate, Medicate, Medicate…LOL

-        Mentor…Rely on teachers you work with.  Get more than one opinion.

-        Ask questions…don’t be shy.
