Challenging Individuals to Achieve Excellence

Literacy Education for Adolescent Development

x
Leveled Readers

Infusion of appropriate and interesting texts for  classrooms and libraries will motivate students to read has been identified as a key focus of any reading program. Language arts teachers need classroom sets of high interest, low level materials. Funding to our libraries has suffered due to local budget issues over the past few years. We need to acquire grade leveled reading materials for our libraries which address the skills identified in the Blueprint for Learning in areas of science and social studies. In the second year of the project, additional reading materials will be added to the Read 180 library to reinforce and enrich reading intervention strategies for targeted students.

Project LEAD if funded through a partnership with the Niswonger Foundation.  The Partnership Program provides schools with the resources and expertise they need to become successful. By helping schools develop and maintain strong academic programs, the Foundation seeks to enhance the educational opportunities of all children.

Under the direction of Linda Irwin, each partnership project is tailored to the particular school and community in which it is located.
