Engineering the Future with Girls IV (EFG):  An Out-of-this-World Success!

Girls from across Jefferson County gathered together on Saturday March 4, 2017 with teacher-leaders to embark on a learning adventure at Mount Horeb Elementary School.  Jan Coley, JCS Science/STEM Coordinator, led the charge as students and teachers worked together to design and decorate city blocks for colonies on Mars!  The learning and outcomes were truly out of this world!

Taking the 20/20 Vision to the Classroom

March 8, 2017

In January of 2017, JCS schools announced their 20/20 vision. Within that vision JCS educators are challenged to work in collaborative partnerships to support innovative approaches to personalized learning. In following this vision, Trevor Denton, a middle school math teacher, shared his successful experience with a blended learning instructional tool with fellow educators at Piedmont Elementary school and the JCS Professional Development Center.  Mr. Denton shared the success he has experienced creating personalized learning paths toward mastery of skills for his students and how others educators can experience this same success in their classrooms.
